Bracknell Town have confirmed their interim manager following the departure of Matthew Saunders on Friday morning.
Former boss and former Robins striker Carl Davies will return to the dugout, according to a statement released by the club: “The club can confirm that former club captain and player manager Carl Davies will take on the role of caretaker manager ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Banbury United.”
Davies previously led the team between February and November 2018 following the departures of Jeff Lamb and Paul McGrotty. During that time, Davies led Bracknell back to Step 4 and won the Hellenic League Cup.
Saunders’ departure on Friday came after a 6-1 defeat to Gosport Borough in the Southern League Premier Division.
A statement from the club said: “Following discussions this morning between the first team manager and the club owners, Matt has stepped down as manager of Bracknell Town FC. Matt would like to thank everyone for their support and wishes everyone associated with the club all the best for the future. The club would like to thank Matt for his contribution and also wish him the best in the future.”
The Robins face Banbury United at home in the Trophy on Sunday 26 October (3.00pm)
