Review: 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport

The Rogue Sport includes numerous safety features as standard equipment. Included among them are automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane intervention, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, front collision warning, rear automatic braking, and automatic high beams. Intelligent Trace Control is a standard feature that assists the vehicle in maintaining its intended route through corners.

Why does Nissan need two subcompact sport utility vehicles? The Nissan Rogue Sport is a choice for buyers who desire greater capacity than the Kicks, such as bigger cargo room, more equipment, and available all-wheel drive, but who do not require the larger Rogue. Notably, the Rogue Sport’s MSRP has historically been closer to that of a standard compact SUV than a subcompact SUV.

Despite the “Sport” in its name, this crossover’s performance is not particularly exciting. The Rogue Sport is sluggish, and its CVT grumbles under acceleration. In manual shift mode, it feels unresponsive and cumbersome. This Nissan operates best in city traffic or once you’ve reached freeway speed.

Although predictable, the handling is not sporty. The ride is pretty comfortable for a small SUV, which is our greatest compliment on the driving experience.

The Rogue Sport offers a nice interior with sufficient space for three adults in the rear seat row. The design is only ordinary, and the largest touchscreen display available is only seven inches. In addition, the offered 360-degree view parking system displays with low quality on the touchscreen. The Rogue Sport will transport you and your belongings from A to B, but rivals offer more.

Performance and Fuel Efficiency

In the Rogue Sport, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine produces 141 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque. Power is transmitted by a continuously variable transmission (CVT). All model levels provide buyers the option between FWD and AWD.

From a stop, the 2020 Rogue Sport required 9.8 seconds to reach 60 mph during our testing. This makes it somewhat speedier than the Nissan Kicks, which reached 60 miles per hour in 10.1 seconds.

We anticipate that the 2022 Rogue Sport’s fuel economy will be comparable to that of the 2021 model, which is rated at 25/32 mpg city/highway with FWD and 24/30 mpg with AWD.
