When Microsoft officially launched a new Xbox handheld device – ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X – one of the new features that it promised was the Aggregate Library that would provide ‘quick access to games from Xbox, Game Pass, Battle.net, and other leading PC window.’
In other words, if you have a game in a window like Steam or Epic Games store, you no longer need to open it separately to access the games. Conversely, they will be accessed from one launcher, along with your Xbox game.
At that time, Microsoft only mentioned that the library collected would be part of the Xbox’s handheld as soon as they were launched later this year (rumors say that in October), but the feature is now scheduled to come to the Xbox PC application as well.
This feature will be launched to the public later this year (no doubt with Xbox handheld), but the Xbox Insider program members will be able to test it on a PC starting this week … As long as they have a Windows 11 PC.
A blog post by Manisha Oza’s product manager explained that the feature will be compatible with the purchased Xbox Games, Game Pass Subscription Services, Battle.net Blizzard Activision launches, and ‘other leading PC windows.’
Even though they did not mention this other shop, they might refer to Steam and Epic Games shops, and maybe GOG too.

Even if one or more of them did not exist at first, they were likely to be added later because the blog post added: ‘We will continue to launch support for additional PC windows from time to time.’
The aggregate library is designed for convenience, especially because the compatible game must be added to it automatically. According to the blog post, ‘as long as you have game titles installing from supported pc stores, you should see them listed in both my library as well as the most recent section.’
This is clearly an effort by Microsoft to convince PC players to use the Xbox application, and stay there. Besides, if all your games can be played through applications, then there is no need to use another storefront.
If successful, this will increase the number of involvement and be a statistics that can be proud of by Microsoft during his income report with investors.
We have seen some confusion if this means that the Xbox owner can access the entire Xbox library through this feature, but in the end only applies to games that are compatible with PCs.
This applies to most modern Xbox games (which sees simultaneous launch on consoles and PCs), but there are no old games accessed through the Xbox backward compatibility feature which is only launched on the console.
There are new rumors -this is the new Xbox Insider EXTAS1S which claims that Microsoft plans to overcome this and partner with the team behind the Xbox 360 Xenia emulator to bring the Xbox retro game to a PC, as well as the Game Pass and Cloud Gaming features.
However, other people, Windows Central from Jez Corden, said ‘This special scenario is not the current thing,’ and the Xenia team also denied rumors in the statement distributed to Discord (via Purexbox).
“The Xenia team (and Xenia Canary, by extension) is not related to, or works with Microsoft in any capacity,” he said.
‘Microsoft uses their own emulation to provide back compatibility on the Xbox One/Series console and therefore has no reason to collaborate with Xenia, even if they decide to bring these titles to the PC.’
Which says, backward compatibility is intended to be something with the next generation Xbox console. Combined with the promises of the platform ‘not bound to one shop or device,’ indeed looks like the purpose of Microsoft is to make it so that the Xbox owner can access the entire new game library, PC games, and retro games in one place.
