The combined Premier Division of the North Windsor & Eton Regency League has announced the departure of Matt Angell and moved quickly to appoint a successor.
This step was announced on the club’s social media channel on Wednesday afternoon with the announcement of his successor shortly after that.
Angell led Windsor to promote out of Thames Valley Premier League in 2024 after the previous summer club formation and then won the title of Division One of the Joint Regency League last season to return the club in step 5, leading to the nomination for managers this season at the Berkshire Football Awards.
A statement issued by Chairman Mark Cooper said: “When Matt was appointed to the formation of our club two years ago, he faced a scary challenge to collect one squad only one month before the season begins – with a clear purpose in securing promotions. Not only will it achieve it, but he will bring us into the CCL title in the CCL Division that will occur in the next season. The next season.
Windsor & Eton are currently fifth in the division after seven matches and have moved to promote from the form of Assistant Manager Robb Webb, there is no doubt to reduce the upheaval in playing staff.
Webb has been an Angell’s assistant since the club began, with a new boss saying: “is a real honor to be given the opportunity to manage Windsor & Eton FC. After becoming part of this club since its formation, I know how special it is and what means directing our teams, staff, and supporters.
In further news, former BOS City Sandhurst Adam Barnard will step into the role of assistant managers after joining the club in the summer.
The first webb game responsible as a manager will be a Saturday tie with Harefield United in the North North Division.
