Virginia Water appointed the captain of the VAS FA winner as the new boss

The Premier League Division of the North Virginia Air Joint League has appointed former winners of Ascot United Captain and FA Vas as the club’s new player/manager.

And Bailey, who joined the club in mid -last season after leaving Yellas, had taken a role after Adam Sams’s departure after two responsible seasons.

“It’s nice to accept this role and I thank the club for giving me my first chance of management,” Bailey wrote on social media.

“I am lucky to have a fantastic young squad that wants to learn and improve, and I am happy to see what we can achieve this season,” he continued.

Virginia water player/manager who only performed 26 times last season under Sams who departed and the team had a positive start to 25/26, took points in two opening matches while advanced to the FA Cup early round after defeating Thornbury Town 3-2 in the extra-extra round replay.

He raised Vas Fa in Wembley in 2023 with Yellas after defeating Newport Pagnell Town 1-0 in the final. Bailey continued to make more than 150 appearances for Yellas with former Ascot boss Jamie Tompkins to tell his -150 milestone: “I am very impressed with the appearance and on the live attacks and in the 150th match for the club. In a statement at the end of July titled ‘Thank you Samsy!’, Sams’s departure was revealed: “Regretted that Adam Sams has decided to resign as a direct effect for family reasons. We really understand his decision and want to thank Adam for all efforts, dedication, and contribution during his term of office at VWFC.

“During the last two seasons, Adam has led the club to the first round in succession, the joint Counties League Cup final and the farthest club in the FA Cup. Adam will always be accepted at the club moving forward.”

Virginia Water has finished in League 7, 7 and 9 in the last three seasons, while 24/25 saw the club reached the first qualifying round of the FA Cup, beating Ascot United on the way before losing to Horsham.
