Football in Newbury has had an interesting history since Newbury Town pushed the division and reached the final FA Vase Final in the mid-1990s before folding in 1995.
The club’s history takes several big names in modern games, including the current Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, Steve Kean (famous for being less said about a better mantra at Blackburn Rovers), a former reading and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Stuart Beautiful and former player of former Portsmouth striker, Whittingham.
Since 1995, several efforts to rejuvenate senior football in the largest city of Western Berkshire have occurred. The new team, promotion, and disappearance of the famous Land of Faraday Road in the club has become a story over the past three decades, one is familiar to followers of non-Liga matches.
Where is a city with a population of about 40,000 sitting in the men’s non-liga soccer pyramid? It is difficult to know Pinpoint, but of course there is an argument that must be higher than step 7 where the club currently plays their football – and that is only after the suspension of the 2024/25 campaign that makes the Newbury finish at the bottom of the Premier Premier Thames Valley Division.
What will happen in the future? The club returns to Faraday Road, the most successful club manager at Danny Langford’s club is now the chairman and the most important thing is that the team seems to have the support of the council led by the Liberal Democrats – even in the parties – the parties are above the promise in the election manifesto that made them expel the conservative party in the 2024 general election.
You only need to look at the national league team Maidenhead United company to see how important certain points are.
A statement released by the club in the news era shows that there is a lot of enthusiasm in the city and in the club:
The new era of football began at Faraday Road on August 30, with a newbury Town (Football Club) that was just changed and re -launched, led by the new chairman Danny Langford.
In addition to changing names back to Newbury Town, the launch of a new home kit and color change (to red from Amber & Black), a committee that was changed has encouraged changes in local soccer clubs. Behind the scenes, Newbury Town has collaborated with the Newbury Community Football Group (NCFG) and the West Berkshire Council to ensure the land has maintained the Ground FA Step 7 assessment status and also announced an interesting partnership with Hillen’s Kitchen for match day food.
The club has also submitted a request for its own alcohol license. “We want to restore the right match experience at Faraday Road,” Danny said.
“We have a local extraordinary support and we want to ensure our supporters have great experience both inside and off the field this season.”
Last season was not the expected homecoming of the club, completing the bottom of the Thames Valley Premier League and could only play at Faraday Road from November. The club has a very limited hospitality facility, which makes it difficult to withdraw the caliber of the players needed to compete at this level.
Fortunately, Newbury avoids degradation because of some structural changes in the league and will continue to play in step 7. With a new team management structure, led by manager Carl Jenner – a very experienced and respected coach who will be supported by two fantastic coaches, Luke Gray and Rob Smith – Club have once again attracted the best local talents to the squad.

Carl Jenner said: “We have announced a number of fantastic signing tents such as Jake Allen, Jack North, Jordan Seward, Kallum Thomas and many more. All of these revenues have been discussed and supervised by James O’Doherty, new football director at the club. And I am really excited about what this team can achieve.
With the dramatic progress made in a short time, things -really -are really looking for newbury. After the previous evictions from Faraday Road Football Ground in 2018 and forced degradation which was followed from not having land cage, the back road was difficult and challenging. Only thank you to dedicated volunteers and loyal supporters that the club has left to see its resurrection.
In collaboration with the new committee is the Newbury Community Football Group (NCFG), which represents several major local soccer clubs in Newbury in connection with Faraday Road. Working with West Berkshire Council, Spokesman Lee McDougall Said: “The Changes in the Club since may have been transformatedly, and I am delighted to see the hard work over many years by NCFG and the Local Community Finally Paying off. Faraday road, and we are continuing to work with West Berkshire Council to drive the next stage of the development of the ground-a full-size 3g pitch which the whole community can use and enjoy. “
While the development of the land has not been running as fast as expected in several regions, the West Berkshire council under the Liberal Democratic government has kept the Manifesto promise to bring football back to Faraday Road and still plans to build a 3G field on the ground and replace the changing room temporarily with a new club house.
“We are very grateful to the West Berks Council,” Danny said. “His progress and support are very fantastic, but it is important to realize that Faraday Road is now a place where the community and I personally like to see youth football played there every Sunday by AFC Newbury Boys and Girls and CSA 007.”
The first equipment for the team was on August 30th against the reserve of the city of Wokingham and, correctly, was at home at Faraday Road Football Ground. While the last minute improvement and repair to the field and the land are ongoing, Danny Langford plans to mark the opportunity with an explosion! “We want the opening day game to be a real celebration of local football and a thank-youu to all those loyal supporters who have stuck with us over the recent challenging years. We are planning a fun day and would be High-Quality Food from Hillen’s Kitchen and a Fully Licensed Bar, there will be entertainment for the children, a penalty shoutotut and team mascots to make it a real family day-please come and join us! “
