Hello and welcome in the 2025/26 season. This starts a little earlier than usual but hopefully that might mean a slightly less busy ending?
We want to issue some notes about how we see football in Berkshire working this season when we approach our 10 -year commemoration in March.
Why?
Basically, the landscape for the niche website in 2025 has been reversed on his head. Changes in the way of searching (Google) and social media (Twitter etc.) Work has affected the amount of traffic obtained by the website – and while we did not pay great attention to the overall numbers (because this is still a hobby), it will be negligent for us not to try to adjust what we do to find the audience.
Other things have changed also for the past 9 and a half years. In 2016, most clubs did not do social media, let alone have regular photography, video interviews, the spotlight package. Most clubs, even down to step 7, have social media people and in many cases the social media teams do extraordinary things. There are many roles without services, historic and difficult in grassroots but we believe “the role of marketing” has become one of the most important. And when they come to their daily coverage of the club, they all do it better than we can.
What is next?
The Footballinberkshire.co.uk website will remain the core of what we do. This will have a large old facelift for the next few months but that’s where we live online. It won’t change.
We have spent time seeing what was successful and how we could use it to tell stories. Do you need a direct score update from us on Twitter/X? Probably not.
Our hyper-focus this season will tell stories. People, clubs, at the moment. This might mean we do not cross every transfer story or the result as a week role. This might mean we don’t issue new content every day, but we are sure that you will have something different to enter teeth and help us distinguish our output, both with written content and new videos.
“Do you need a direct score update from us on Twitter/X? Maybe not”
This means we will see Woodley United and the differences made in summer, our intimate (and painful) knowledge of the dangers of Holyport’s rest space, talking to Lola Pollard about choosing between playing and returning when she goes to WSL2. Hopefully that also means we can do more events.
As usual, if you have a story, think we have missed something or just want to make your club a little publicity then contact editor@footballinberkshire.co.uk or join our WhatsApp community.
Soon there will be many new ways to do this including uploading your match report directly to the website and making a new club bulletin board.
You can also follow everything by subscribing to our bulletin, joining the panel or following on Instagram, Tiktok, LinkedIn and Bluesky. Details about how to subscribe and follow everything is here.
INVOLVED: We are always looking for new people to join our team. Want to write? Want a video, podcast or just do something different? We have a great connection built for more than 10 years in soccer and soccer media as well. There are many things to do and so many opportunities! Contact editor@footballinberkshire.co.uk
