Ascot United Women have secured a place in the semi-finals of the Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Women’s Cup for the first time.
The Yellas are away to Milton Keynes side New Bradwell St Peter in quarter-final action on Tuesday night.
They appeared to be ahead in the 20th minute after Mia Delaney fired a shot but the goal was ruled out due to handball. But just seven minutes later Poppy Dearlove found Alice Balaam who made no mistake to put Ascot ahead. New Bradwell hit back in the 38th minute and the teams equalized at halftime.
There were three first-half changes for Yellas including super substitute Kate Fox, and she was the winner in the 65th minute, restoring a two-goal lead and creating club history, sending the team to the semi-finals for the first time.
Yellas will surely be delighted to reach the semi-finals after narrowly missing out on a place in the 2024/25 season when sixth division Newport Pagnell Town scored a late winner in the 87th minute to deny them a penalty shootout.
Ascot will face Maidenhead United, Abingdon United or MK Dons in the next round.
Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Women’s Cup Quarter Final Results:
- MK Dons 14-1 Woodley United
- Bradwell St Peter is just 1-2 Ascot United
- Penn Green & Tyler 0-2 Virginity United
- Wycombe Wanderers 0-0 Abingdon United (6-7 penalties)
