Manchester United are monitoring VfB Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports.
It is said that Stuttgart will ask for more than €50m (£43m) for Stiller, who was dubbed Germany’s ‘next big star’ by Sports Illustrated this year.
The outlet ranked the 24-year-old German international No.12 on its list of the 25 best defensive midfielders in the world.
Stiller, who came through Bayern Munich’s academy, joined Stuttgart in 2023 from fellow Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim.
He was named to The Athletic’s Bundesliga Team of the Season in 2024 and also helped Stuttgart to the DFB-Pokal trophy in 2025.

Football transfer expert Florian Plettenberg has now reported that Stiller is ‘very open’ to a move to United.
However, it is believed that a move in the summer transfer window is more likely than a move in January at the moment.
“Manchester United are still monitoring Angelo Stiller, who is very open to a move next summer,” wrote Plettenberg in X.
Stiller is considered a similar player to Joshua Kimmich, known for his passing range, first touch, ball control, vision and game intelligence.
Kimmich himself is a big fan of Stiller and called him a ‘brave’ player who has ‘no fear’.
“I knew Angelo from the second team at Bayern,” Kimmich explained last year.
‘Unfortunately, he left the club at that time. You could see by then that he was someone who was brave and wanted the ball.
“He is technically good and has no fear. [He is] technically strong and plays good passes. [He has] have fun on the field.’
Stiller has played 117 games in the Bundesliga to date, scoring six goals and 18 assists.
He would be an interesting addition at Old Trafford considering he is not a tough tackler like Casemiro or Manuel Ugarte.
Stiller would offer something different to Ruben Amorim with his strong positioning and playmaking abilities.
United have also been linked with a number of other defensive midfielders in recent months – including Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.
Stiller would be a cheaper option for the Red Devils, with Brighton said to value Baleba at around £100m and Wharton valued at well over £43m.
