Xabi Alonso hinted that Kylian Mbappe was able to return to Real Madrid to start Xi in the Club World Cup quarter -finals after his team defeated Juventus to order their place in the last eight.
The second half header Gonzalo Garcia-helped by Trent Alexander-Arnold-proven to determine when Los Blancos advanced from the 16th heavyweight match tonight at Hard Rock Stadium Miami.
Mbappe missed the three contests of the Madrid group after being hospitalized with acute gastroenteritis on the night of the tournament this summer.
But Alonso sent Mbappe to replace Garcia winning the match in the 68th minute and while the Frenchman could not make a significant difference, he would no doubt be happy to get a few minutes on his feet after a few challenging days on the sidelines.
Madrid will face one of Borussia Dortmund or Monterrey in the next round at the New Jersey Metlife Stadium, where Alonso will try to move further to secure his first silver as head coach.
“We are developing a game based on the game and today we are getting better,” Alonso said shortly after the final whistle.
‘You should know how to compete and grit your teeth. This is Real Madrid. ‘

Alonso is optimistic about Mbappe’s chance to return to Madrid to start Xi when the club continued their campaign on Saturday night.
‘Kylian Mbappe? I think he will feel much better for the quarter -finals, ‘the Spaniard answered when asked for an update about the attacker’s fitness.
‘I talk to him every day, let’s look. He feels better. ‘
Asked if there was a possibility that Garcia and Mbappe could start together in the next Madrid match, Alonso replied: ‘I have not prepared the next match.
‘I am happy with Gonzalo and the whole team. We must start finding out what we need.
“We will draw a good conclusion when the time comes.”

Alonso insisted that he did not have a preference in terms of the next Madrid against Madrid, with Dortmund and Monterrey to fight with the quarter -finals on Wednesday.
“I will follow him carefully, of course,” added the added Leverkusen boss.
‘No problem which I chose. I know Dortmund and coach Monterrey very well. ‘
Alonso was happy with the contribution of Alexander-Arnold, but felt the British right-back had more things to be given considering he had been ‘barely trained’ with his new teammates.
In the first Alexander-Arnold assist as a Madrid player, Alonso said: ‘Crossing is his trademark … he did 500 of them.
‘On the right, sometimes we need extra legs. Dribbling one by one is not his business.
‘He came to Madrid to compete; He was barely trained. Everything takes time. ‘
