You might think masterminding a turnaround that sees your team go from a great run on the final day of the season to top of the league and unbeaten after 18 games would be enough for some people.
Not Jordan Blake, manager of Woodley United’s men’s first team.
That’s because in recent weeks, the Kestrels boss has supported the club’s women’s team by taking on managerial duties following the departure of Iestyn Llewellyn after a short spell in charge.
Blake’s one game in charge was a 1–1 draw with Badshot Lea, the team’s first points of the Southern Region Women’s League Premier Division season, with a goal coming from Megan Giles.
Blake said: “The club board asked if I could help out a few weeks ago after the manager left, and I was happy to do so.”
Writing on social media after the draw, he added: “It was a pleasure to help Woodley Women as caretaker manager on Sunday afternoon with a positive point in the right direction after a difficult start to the season. Always keen to help and support the football club as much as I can in any capacity.”
Blake’s thoughts will now turn back to Combined Nations League Division One action after three games in seven days for the league leaders.
The Kestrels dismantled Hillingdon Borough 4-1 ahead of Football in Berkshire at Rivermoor nine days ago. That was followed up with a 3-2 win at Sandhurst Town on Monday night and a 5-2 win at Langley on Friday.
Woodley’s men’s team return to action at home against Hillingdon in the Division One Cup on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) while the women’s team host Beaconsfield Town at Bulmershe Pavilion on November 9 when it emerged that a new manager would take over.
