Two weekend goals have led to Bryan Mbeumo (£8.2m) became the most-bought Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player ahead of Gameweek 10. As of Wednesday afternoon, he had reached 750,000 buys.
However, while he is ahead of his more expensive Manchester United teammates Bruno Fernandes (£8.9m) for points, committing to the Cameroonian international was not an easy decision.
Using basic numbers, deeper stats from our Members Area and some additional context, let’s try to determine which quarterback is the best.
LATEST FORM
Not just Mbeumo’s two goals, but also his goal in Gameweek 8 at Anfield, which was followed by an assist against Sunderland. Meanwhile, Fernandes has only recorded one counterattack in the last four match weeks.
During this period, Mbeumo dominated his partner in terms of both goals and points, while both created the same number of big chances (two).
| [GAMEWEEKS 6 TO 9] |
FPL POINTS | EFFORT | SHOT TARGET |
BIG CHANCE |
CHANCE MADE |
xG (DELTA) | xGI (DELTA) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| FERNDES | 14 | 10 | 4 | 2 | 9 | 1.54 (-1.54) | 2.17 (-1.17) |
| MBEUMO | 32 | 8 | 6 | 4 | 7 | 1.05 (+1.95) | 1.82 (+2.18) |
Fernandes’ kicks prioritize quantity over quality, as Mbeumo compensates for his fewer attempts by having high accuracy (85.7%).
But here we have a case of overachieving versus underachieving when it comes to calculating expected goals (xG) and expected goal involvement (xGI).
Even though the FPL results were worse than Gameweek 6, Fernandes still beat Mbeumo for both. However, it is worth remembering that the latter, when at Brentford, had the biggest xG Delta in 2024/25 (+7.74), which shows recent history in beating data.
