This year’s I’m A Celebrity campmates have escaped the winter weather, but they will face very different challenges.
ITV’s iconic reality show returns on Sunday night with the likes of Aitch, AngryGinge, Lisa Riley and Kelly Brook heading into the jungle for a new series.
According to reports, medical personnel are on red alert due to dangerous humidity levels in the area.
It was said that humidity soared to 90% – 20% higher than the average for this time of year – in the region on Sunday, and bosses made sure celebrities stayed safe.

‘Celebrities have been hit with some of the worst that Australia has to offer this year,’ an insider told The Sun.
‘They were taken from a beautiful air-conditioned hotel to the humidity of the Australian jungle without any time to acclimate to the humidity.’
The source noted that in such conditions, ‘it was extremely uncomfortable just to breathe – let alone do whatever physical activity they had to do to keep the camp running’.
The insider added: ‘It’s been a baptism of fire.’
Of course, after more than two decades on air, I’m A Celeb’s medical team are ‘prepared for situations like this’, with measures in place including water-activated cooling towels to reduce fainting.
The humidity could have caused problems for Jack Osbourne, who was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis in 2012.
A few years ago, he was forced to leave US reality show Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Tests – which is similar to SAS: Who Dares Wins – due to medical concerns over an increased heart rate.
‘The doctor on the show was more worried than I was. “I’m pretty healthy considering I have MS, but it’s not an everyday occurrence for me,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
He added: ‘I’m pretty strong, and I don’t have any problems with that at the moment. So it’s not a problem.’
Meanwhile, YouTuber Angry Ginge joked before leaving for camp that he brought extra sunscreen because of his fair skin.
‘I’ve reached factor 50 today and that’s only because I persisted,’ he quipped.
Metro has contacted ITV for comment.
I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm.
