I did not buy a 2 to Nintendo switch to make a big hardware change

The hardware design and ability of Nintendo Switch 2 received criticism from readers who were not impressed with the screen or control.

This starts to Christmas now. Pai chopped already in the shops and I am sure the second Halloween is over, you will never be able to enter the shop until next year, without hearing the endless Christmas song circle. The time this year means many different things for different people but most of them mean gifts and at the beginning of this year I plan to make mine as Nintendo Switch 2.

I can’t pretend that the launch of Switch 2 does not go well from a sales point of view, because this is the best-selling console and all of that. But I don’t believe me alone in thinking that so far a little disappointing. Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza have reviewed well, and I might get it if I have a console, but I don’t see someone calling it classic all time.

Although we know that everything will arrive in the end there is nothing on the direct horizon that seems extraordinary, with things like Spatioon Raiders and new fire symbols that look like the most interesting games that may be announced earlier. But I’m not here to complain about software, but the hardware.

I have held and used a 2 switch but while the form factor was fine, I found a magnetic connection from Joy-cons was very worrying. They continue to feel like I will yell at them and while I don’t try and push them to their limits, because it is a friend’s console, I find the previous railroad system, simpler, much better.

Another problem that is clear is the screen, which is not OLED and looks very foggy and is not impressive for me. There are many ghosting images and many unintentional movements that I think are very ugly.

I know this is a matter of cost, but for me this is a wrong compromise to make. The essence of it becomes a portable resting on it has a good screen, because that’s all you rely on unless you attach it to TV, which I rarely do with my existing switch. But it’s a terrible screen that is worse than the OLED 1 switch that I already have.

And I don’t know whether this is more hardware or software, but VRR and HDR are really bad and even seem to be in most games. It would be bad enough, but Nintendo made the emphasis that switch 2 could do it, but it seemed not really possible.

But then one of the other problems for a console is that there is no real technological demo, so it is really unclear what can and cannot be done by console, especially because all big games so far are designed for Switch 1.

And then there is a battery life, which is also terrible. Nintendo said that more than six hours were possible but according to what I saw, and my friend’s comments, it almost did not last half of that. Once again, I am sure this is a matter of cost – you don’t want to switch large costs – but as a portable it seems very lacking.

I don’t like being able to play the latest Nintendo games, but I refuse to buy the original model. I will get a 2 lite switch or OLED switch 2 model but it’s okay what they are selling now. I didn’t imagine we would see both until at least 2027, so I thought until then switch 2 was not for me.

But maybe that is the best, because at that time hopefully it will have some more interesting games that encourage the system, and not only the game Switch 1 is busy. The disadvantage is that now I don’t know what to get for Christmas.
