Fantasy Football community writer Scout Greyhead analyzes the transfers and strategies of several famous Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers..
This season’s ‘The Great and The Good’ are FPL Godfather Mark Sutherns, BlackBox pair Az and Andy North, Scouts FPL General, Joe and Tom, FPL Wire trio Pras, Lateriser and Zophar, FPL celebrities FPL Harry, Martin Baker, Pingreen, FPL Frasier and Luke Williams, Hall of Famers Ben Crellin, Fabio Borges and Tom Dollimore, and last year’s mini league winners Huss E.
“Everything must go”
In scenes reminiscent of the Hunger Games, there was a frenzy of activity this week, as transfer-hungry FPL managers scoured the Fantasy world for short-term kicks as we prepared for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) giveaway.
All this in the middle of back-to-back Gameweeks in seven days is enough, I’m sure, to encourage many FPL managers to take another sip or two of mulled wine. Other celebratory drinks are also available.
As the weekend arrived, a huge amount of drama took place on Merseyside, and there were a few things that made an impression Mohamed Salah (£14.0m) must be calm, calm. Congratulations to whoever got that 90s sketch show reference.
Then, when playing football, most of us switch back to football Erling Haaland (£15.0m) captain’s armband thereafter Bruno Fernandes (£9.0m) omission, only for him to immediately empty and Bruno withdraw.
Daniel Munoz (£6.1m) mysteriously disappeared, leading to numerous benchings, and Declan Rice (£7.1m) – who appears to be owned by no one among the online FPL community – was briefly the leading midfielder in the game, before Monday.
OVERALL PERFORMANCE
Huss E continues to make fun of his rookie status here, as he returns to top goalscoring and climbs to 13k worldwide, this time aided by the holy trinity of FPL Fernandes, Phil Foden (£8.6 million) and Anthony Gordon (£7.2 million).
Pingreen had a good week and rose almost 400,000 rankings, but this is nothing compared to FPL General. The latter loved Haaland’s vacancy, reaching over 900,000 places and lifting himself from the bottom of this table.
The general was assisted by captain Foden and, overall, it was strange to see none of them suit Fernandes. I’m sure at least one of them will, considering he’s up against a Wolverhampton Wanderers side that looks set to go after him.
TRANSFER

With all these transfers to go around and Foden in hot form, it’s no surprise that he’s been the most popular signing, and he’s once again scoring double figures. The ultimate sacrifice? Antoine Semenyo (£7.6 million).
We also see a ton of goalkeeper moves in motion Nick Pope (£5.1m), but perhaps the most eye-catching decision was Fabio Borges’ loss of confidence Virgil van Dijk (£6.0 million). I suspect there will be many more to follow in his footsteps.
‘THE GREAT AND THE GOOD’ TEMPLATE
Despite all these transfers, the only change is Joachim Andersen (£4.5 million) for Marco Senesi (£5.0m), plus the reordering of the deck saw Foden climb the popularity charts.
Dubravka (88.9%), Raya (44.4%)
van Dijk (72.2%), Wood (55.6%), Andersen (50%), Rodon (44.4%), Munoz (38.9%)
Fernandes (83.3%), Foden (72.2%), Saka (72.2%), Minteh (66.7%), Semenyo (38.9%)
Mainland (94.4%), Matheta (61.1%)
YOUR TRANSFER POSITION
So we’ve arrived at Gameweek 16’s transfer top-up. Management style will certainly come into play, with aggressive sides treating this as a mini Wildcard, while others are hoarding it like cautious FPL scooges.
Where they will target their moves is still up for debate, so let’s take a quick look at where most of the moves have taken place so far.

Midfield is where the green and red arrows flow, with just under 50% of transfers taking place in midfield. Additionally, there was limited activity up front, where Haaland and his 3-5-2 formation were mostly used.
Luke moved most in defence, Mark and Tom Dollimore often played with their forwards, while the likes of Fabio and Harry made no goalkeeping transfers at all. Possible David Raya (£6.0 million) was the answer all along.
CONCLUSION
A lot of movement has occurred over the past few weeks, as more and more managers involved have started to make profits. And with five transfers now available, there will be plenty of opportunities to continue that development.
Frankly, the best tactic would be to target Wolves, which keeps all eyes on Mikel Arteta’s next press conference.
Anyway, that’s all from me for now, and remember: don’t have an FPL nightmare.
