If you have never played a game before, manager basically gets a ‘free hit’ every week.

There is no player price limit, and you choose the squad using the 7+2 format: that’s seven players and two clubs, every gameweek. This format reflects 72 teams at EFL, offering a unique touch in traditional fantasy games.

In this article, we guide you through the basis of how to play games.

Team creation

Every week, your challenge is to choose seven best -perform players and two clubs stand out from 72 teams throughout the English soccer league. That is a collection of nearly 2,000 players to consider!

Team selection + formation

Seven your players must be selected from the following positions:

• Goalkeeper: 1
• Defenders: 2-3
• Midfielder: 2-3
• Forward: 1-2

Your team must then choose one of the following formations:

Selection for the following gameweek

New features for Fantasy EFL 2025/26 will allow players to make their teams for follow Gameweek immediately after the existing gameweek starts.

For example, if you have saved your team for Gameweek 1, immediately after the first EFL game in 2025/26 starts, you will be able to choose your team for Gameweek 2.

Restriction

First, you cannot choose more than two players per club each gameweek (unless you use one club chip to be explained).

In addition, you can only choose a club a maximum of five times throughout the season, so think about it strategically. After you select the club five times, they will lock.

Captain

Every gameweek, you must choose a captain for your team. This player will get a double point.

You are free to change your captain as much as you like, until their match starts and they become “locked” for Gameweek. Remember, you can’t choose players who have played at Gameweek today.

You will also choose the Deputy Captain every week. Your Deputy Captain stepped to score double points if your main captain did not play on the gameweek.

The same rules about changing your deputy captain and don’t choose players who have played in force.

Roll-over team

If you don’t make any changes to your team, it will be automatically brought to the next gameweek, and your players will continue to score points as long as they are chosen by their club.

Keep in mind, there are limits of five choices per club per season. If your rolled-over team includes a club that exceeds this limit, the club will be replaced randomly with different.

Max Captain Chip

Max Captain Chip automatically assigns the captain to your highest score player for the gameweek, but only after all your players have finished their match.

You can activate this chip a maximum of twice per season. Your first use is available until 31 January 2025, and second you from February 1, 2025, and so on.

To use your Max Captain chip, just select the Lightning Bolt icon on the ‘My Team’ tab before Gameweek’s first match begins.

One club chip

Only for 2025/26, one club chip allows you, only for one gameweek, to choose as many players as possible from one club, over the limits of two ordinary clubs. This chip can be used at any point throughout the season.

You can only apply one club chip before Gameweek starts and you can reset one club chip anytime before the first match starts.

To use one of your club chips, just choose the Lightning Bolt icon on the ‘My Team Team’ tab before Gameweek’s first match begins.

Update your team

Leaving your team hasn’t changed? This game automatically maintains the set of players and clubs and rolling the same to the next gameweek.

If the club’s pick has been used excessively (five picks max), it will be exchanged randomly.

Locking

Players and clubs are selected to be ‘locked’ immediately after their EFL game begins at Gameweek.

That means you can no longer add or delete choices from the team.

After your captain/deputy captain is locked, then you can no longer change your captain/deputy captain.

The locking was automatically lifted once all the equipment in Gameweek concluded.

Assessment system

There are several adjustments this season for the assessment system.

Players and clubs are awarded points based on their appearance during the season, with players scoring according to their position.

Gameweek structure

Every gameweek runs from Thursday to Wednesday.

In a dual gameweeks, or even the potential for triple gameweek, if a player or club plays twice, you get points from both.

Conversely, in an empty gameweek, you score zero points from players who don’t have fixture.

Present

You will be able to make and join a number of public or private mini-legers.

Making a public league means that this will be available openly for all users to join the “Join Join the League” page, while making a private league means that other people can only join this league if you share league information with them.

If you have created a league, you can delete users from the league until the league starts scoring goals.
