Gordon Lyons from DUP said the event, organized by Estastside Partnership, was ‘not suitable for children’ and has ‘compromised our public library as a friendly and inclusive space for all’.

He added: ‘I have directed my official to deal with this library to ensure that the policy is applied faithfully.’

The North Ireland Police Service (PSNI) confirmed that two people were escorted far from the library, but at this stage, no violations were determined to occur.
