Southern League Premier Division South Bracknell Town have announced manager Matthew Saunders has resigned.
The Robins appointed Saunders in mid-September following the departure of Jordan Ive. The new boss won his first game in charge, an FA Cup tie with Tadley Calleva, but was unable to turn around the club’s form in the Southern League.
A statement released by the club on social media said: “Following discussions this morning between the first team manager and the club owners, Matt has stepped down as manager of Bracknell Town FC. Matt would like to thank everyone for their support and wishes all those associated with the club the best for the future. The club would like to thank Matt for his contribution and also wish him the best for the future.”
Bracknell’s cup form saw them progress in the FA Cup, beating Hungerford Town 6-3, but despite a reshaped squad, Saunders’ side picked up just one point from a possible 18 in the league. He was in charge of Bracknell for 10 matches.
The Robins face Banbury United at home in the Trophy on Sunday 26 October (3.00pm)
