Antonio Conte admitted that he was confused by Manchester United’s inability to get the best from Scott Mctominay before moving to Napoli.
MCTOMINAY has been with the United Academy since the age of five but the club chose to sell midfielders in an agreement of £ 25.7 million to Napoli last year.
The 28 -year -old player made a direct impact in Italy when he played an important role in the success of the Napoli Serie A title and was chosen as this year’s division player.
During his time on the United first team, McTominay struggled to find his best position in midfield but Conte insisted on Scottish international has all the attributes to be successful.
“I knew him when he played with Manchester United because I trained twice in England,” Conte said.

‘I saw great potential on this player and first [asking] Why Scott Mctominay is not dominant in the UK because it has great potential.
‘When the possibility of occurs to sign it for Napoli, to be honest when I first did not believe it could happen. That happened and now he enjoyed it.
‘For players like him, he was born in Manchester United and there is a point in your career and life where you might need to change and try other experiences. It happened to us and we were really happy because we not only talked about fantastic players but also fantastic men. ‘
Conte also revealed that Hojlund wanted to move to Napoli after a difficult season at United under Ruben Amorim.
“I know Rasmus because he plays with Atalanta and then he came to Man United. In my opinion, we talked about players with great potential and he was only 22 years old, so he had all careers in front of him, ‘Conte said.
‘When we talked to him, I felt he was very happy to get this new experience and he said he was ready and wanted to play for me and for Napoli.
“He has great potential and is now up to me to improve it and grow and become a truly high striker. Whether they come from the Premier League or other championships, what is important is that the players who arrive or come to the field can give something.
