A driver miraculously survived after launching his Mercedes through a roundabout in stunning footage captured on CCTV in Romania.
The 49-year-old man, who reportedly passed out while driving, was seen careening into traffic in a video recorded in Oradea, a city in western Romania.
This astonishing footage taken on December 3 and dubbed the ‘first flying car’ has gone viral.
Moments before colliding with another car, the vehicle hit a curb and flew several meters into the air.
According to local media reports, the driver suffered multiple fractures but no life-threatening injuries.
He was trapped in the rubble before being rescued by emergency services and taken to hospital.
Investigators reportedly said the driver suffered a hypoglycemic crisis, in which his blood sugar dropped dangerously low, causing him to pass out.
This caused him to slide towards the roundabout the wrong way and at very high speed.
Photos from the scene showed the car mangled after the incident, its bonnet crushed and its windows badly damaged.
He was suspended from driving for 90 days and fined 1,600 Romanian Lei (£274).
The video has sparked distrust online. One wrote: “Oh my god I saw the video in full screen and it really scared me. I hope the driver is ok.”
People compare real life actions with Back to the Future and video game series Grand Theft Auto.
This man is not the first person to become a victim of a sloping roundabout.
In 2018, a silver Citroën van flew through the air after crashing into a roundabout in Norfolk.
The silver vehicle overtook another van but did not appear to anticipate the roundabout.
It flew several meters into the air, and three people were injured.
Two days ago, witnesses described seeing ‘natural carnage’ after a man died in a collision near a court in north-west London.
Rubin Nunes, 34, from Peterborough, suffered fatal injuries following a car crash in Chapel Close, Willesden, shortly after 1.30pm on Wednesday.
Another man, also in his 30s, has been rushed to hospital as his injuries are not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
